GERRY Marsden sailed into a packed New Brighton and declared with a smile as wide as as the Mersey that he was 'home'.

Toxteth-born Gerry is popular on both sides of the river.

He is still a touring rock and roller and he shares some funny memories in his 'concert meets biography' format.

The show of two halves sees his backing band the Pacemakers in the first set playing 60s songs from Everlasting Love to Out of Time.

They were joined by singer Rachel Sinnetta who is a true star.

She looks fab and sings ballads and rockers with real passion.

Rachel pays tribute to Dusty and Cilla with superb interpretations of their classics.

A name to look out for.

After half time it was Gerry looking dapper in white tuxedo, singing sings that made him a house hold name.

He chatted and cracked jokes with the stand up ease of Ken Dodd.

And his voice is as strong as ever.

He told anecdotes about the Beatles and Brian Epstein and read out dedications.

Then the hits came along and although he sings them every night they sound as fresh as ever .... 50 years on.

Ferry Cross the MerseyDon't Let the Sun Catch You Crying (dedicated to his wife) and I Like It were joined by How Do You Do It?

Each song bringing back memories and nostalgia to the audience who loved his sparkling back catalogue.

He ended his show with You'll Never Walk Alone.

Here's a Merseybeat legend who loves what he does and it shows in every performance.

Gerry was back home.

It was like seeing an old friend who was born to entertain.

Four stars

Gerry Good gig.
