A MUSICAL comedy that looks at life through the eyes of one character will be staged at the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight next week.

Wirral-born actress Suzanne Collins plays Veronica Shuttle in the aptly-titled Life at the venue in Greendale Road from next Wednesday, September 28, to Saturday, October 1.

The show sees eccentric six-year-old Veronica grow up. It shows how her life unfolds, the good times, the tragedies, the surprises and the knocks.

Written by Birkenhead-based Brian McCann and produced by his Active Drama Company, it also takes the audience through the torment of youth and then the madness of adulthood.

Suzanne Collins has worked with Brian on many shows including the critically-acclaimed Bully and smash hit Down Our Street, which was staged at the Royal Court in Liverpool.

The ensemble cast also features Roy Brandon, Lesley Butler, Lynne Fitzgerald and Lenny Wood, all well known for roles in shows across Merseyside and beyond.

They are joined by Active Drama stars Sam Heller and Edwina Lea Brian also wrote the songs for the sell-out musical Moggies The Mewsical at the Unity Theatre in Liverpool.

Life will start the celebrations for Active Drama's 20th anniversary.

Next year sees the return home of Down Our Street at the Floral Pavilion, again, with a star-studded cast.

Brian McCann said: "Life is a feel-good show.

"The reaction when I first produced it was fantastic.

"It was loved by all who came to see it.

"I'm putting together a strong cast of well-known actors and using the Gladstone Theatre for the first time.

"I'm really looking forward to this production".
