POLICE have confirmed that victim of a railway tragedy this morning was a 15-year-old girl.

The teenager has not been named. Her family have been informed of the death.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Our officers were called to Port Sunlight railway station at around 10.30am on Monday,  November 10, following reports of a person struck by a train.

“Colleagues from Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service also attended.

"A 15-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
