TWENTY members of staff from a Wirral primary school will take part in the Liverpool Santa Dash to raise cash for Claire House in memory of a pupil who died from a rare form of cancer.

Teachers, teaching assistants and office staff from Prenton Primary are running in memory of 10-year-old Cole Breadner, who lost his battle with Burkitt's Lymphoma. He died at Alder Hey in February, just 16 weeks after being diagnosed.

Those running the Santa Dash on Sunday, December 7, include headteacher Sandra Lloyd.

She said: "The whole staff have been affected by the loss of Cole. He was a fantastic footballer and demonstrated great sportsmanship.

"Our staff wanted to do something to help support Claire House we know were a great support to Cole’s family.

“Cole had so many talents and was an excellent role model. He touched so many people’s lives and we have all benefitted from that.”

The school has previously remembered Cole with a balloon release and the launch of an annual football tournament, Cole’s Cup.

Debbie Smith, Wirral area fundraiser for Claire House, said: "One of the most inspiring things about Prenton Primary School's fundraising efforts is that these staff are supporting their children to help other children.

"They should be so proud of themselves because they’re making a real difference to local families who are looking after a very poorly child this Christmas.

"The Santa Dash is always a highlight of the Claire House calendar and we can't wait to cheer the guys from Prenton Primary School over the finish line as a big thank you for all their hard work."
