A TERRIFIC trio of kind-hearted women are helping to make Christmas special for children spending the festive season in hospital.
Sacks full of cuddly toys, action figures and board games were donated to Arrowe Park Hospital's children's ward on Tuesday by Fay Murphy, Ria Cairns and Tracey Bleasdale.
The donation comes after the entrepreneurial set up a Facebook page called "Raising Money for Children's Hospital" in April 2012.
Since then, they have accepting donations of unwanted items which are then resold to raise money to buy much-needed toys and supplies for local charities.
Ronald McDonald House Arrowe Park and St Catherine’s Hospital are just two organisations benefitting from their hard work, as well as various clinics across the borough.
Eight-year-old Isaac Clyne-Fear and his dad Craig receive one of the toys from Fay Murphy.
“We ask for donations of toys, household goods, anything really that we can sell on nice and cheap,” explained Fay, whose Tranmere home has been taken over by donations in the run-up to Christmas.
“The money we raise goes towards buying toys for the children. We could not do this if it wasn’t for our community, to which we are truly grateful.
“It touches us so much when we get a little message saying they have seen all the new toys – it’s a great feeling.”
This year's donation was made even more special thanks to the generosity of drivers at Argyle Park Taxis who helped to deliver the toys for free.
Disney Princesses Elsa, Anna and Merida were also on hand to help receive the toys.
