THE Empire always presents a lavish Christmas show.

This year is no exception.

Ray Quinn is the undoubted star of Aladdin - a real song and dance man who clearly loves playing his hometown.

His cheeky patter reminded me of Ant and Dec rolled into one.

But Ray offers so much more with his polished singing and dancing.

His comic touches were also spot on.

The predominantly Scouse cast are in fine form.

They have worked togethey before and the chemistry is evident.

Claire Sweeney, as the genial genie, sparkles just like her on-stage personality.

She is a truly versatile actress.

Radio City broadcasters Pete Price and Leanne Campbell are joined by Warren Donelly as baddie Abanazer.

The now compulsory Happy by Pharrel Williams encourages audience participation.

The choreography is top notch as are the magical sets.

The highlight is Ray Quinn on a magic carpet.

Clever and inventive.

Wirral-based Roy Brandon knows what he is - a great dame and a veteran of the art form for the past 30 years.

A traditional panto with its big heart in the right place from the Far East to Lime Street.

Producers, First Family Entertainment, certainly live up to their apt name.

8/10 Festive Fizz!

The show is at the Empire Theatre until January 4.
