A PUBLIC meeting to discuss plans for building a nursing home on the site of a former Wirral pub will take place later this month.

The one-time Pensby Hotel, in Pensby Road, is currently under consideration as the site for a new care home for older people.

The redevelopment plan, which includes demolishing the existing building, will be outlined by the developer during the public meeting at St Michael and All Angels Church in Pensby on Thursday, March 26, which starts at 7.30pm.

The proposal will then be considered by members of the council's planning committee on a date to be confirmed.

The public meeting has been organised by Pensby and Thingwall Labour councillor Phillip Brightmore. He told the Globe: "Following the submission of these proposals, I believe our community's voice should be heard in any discussions about how best to bring this important building and site back to life.

"This meeting represents an important first step in the planning process, and I encourage all concerned residents to attend.

"For resident who cannot attend the meeting, but still wishes to have their questions answered or concerns heard, contact me directly on phillipbrightmore@wirral.gov.uk or at one my regular surgeries and I will raise your questions with the developers.”

Concerned residents have started an online petition.
