Five people arrested following a disturbance at a house in Wallasey have been released on bail.

They have been charged with drugs offences and obstructing police.

Patrols were called to Seabank Road at 10.45am yesterday following reports a number of people had forced their way into a house, damaging the front door and threatening a man inside.

Officers were confronted by a group of men who were acting aggressively towards them and refusing to let them in.

Police detained them for obstruction and on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs which were found during a subsequent search of the house.

A 29-year-old man from Birkenhead and two women from Wallasey, aged 24 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug.

Two other men from Wallasey, aged 31 and 26, were held on suspicion of obstructing police and possession of a controlled drug.

All five have been released on police bail.

Further inquiries are being carried out to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, which occurred inside the house and did not involve any members of the public.
