KNIGHTRIDER and Baywatch legend David Hasselhoff will appear at the Liverpool Empire next year in a musical comedy set in 1980s Ibiza.

He plays Ross in Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, which will be stage at the venue from January 19-23. Ross is an '80s DJ in Ibiza who doesn’t realise a new decade has dawned, disco is out, the club scene is in.

He tries to keep up with the times ... with Mandy, his new younger girlfriend, but matters are complicated when his teenage daughter Penny arrives to stay.

It's the story of two generations colliding, as a badly behaved parent tries to control a wild child teenager.

On his new role, David said: "See it. Believe it. Live it. This is my motto and I am living it now.

"I can’t wait to bring something new and different to UK theatre audiences.

"I absolutely love live theatre and the interaction with the audience.

"To play a character that I can relate to while celebrating an era of fantastic music is going to be Hofftastic. Come party Hoffstyle!”

"This is going to be a great production and I can’t wait to see the audience reaction. I guarantee you will be singing all night long!"

The star leapt to fame in 1982 as Michael Knight on the hit show KnightRider. In 1989, He returned to TV to produce and star in the series Baywatch.

David had the number one song in Ireland and Scotland with Jump in my car and number 2 in the rest of the UK.

He played his own show at the Edinburgh fringe festival and at Indigo at the 02 and has done 80s shows all over the world.

Having amassed 40 gold and platinum records David sang to more than million people in Berlin in 1989 on New Year’s Eve, featuring his iconic song Looking For Freedom, which he recently recreated again to over a million people.

Away from TV he has appeared on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde, as Billy Flynn in the West End production of Chicago and on the Las Vegas stage in Mel Brooks' The Producers.

He was also judge on America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent.

His new UK TV series entitled “Hoff The Record" is currently shown on satelite station Dave.

Tickets for Last Night A DJ Saved My Life are from the Liverpool Empire box office on 0844 847 2525.
