FOUR people have been arrested this morning, following a second day of raids on addresses in Wirral as part of an investigation into burglaries, thefts of and from motor vehicles and drug supply.

Police executed warrants at six addresses in Birkenhead, resulting in the arrest of two men and two women.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft from a motor vehicle and handling stolen goods; a 28 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft from a dwelling and theft of a motor vehicle; a 46 year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary and a 46 year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

All four are being questioned at stations on Merseyside today.

Police also recovered a replica handgun, a quantity of Class A drugs and suspected stolen property.

Police targeted homes in Birkenhead yesterday as part of the same investigation and arrested six people.

Two of those arrested have now been charged.

Paul James Jones, 26, of Euston Grove, Birkenhead, has been charged with 20 offences of handling stolen goods and three offences of theft from a motor vehicle and has been remanded in custody.

David Brewster, 42, of Corporation Road, Birkenhead, has been charged with two offences of handling stolen goods and offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act and has been bailed to appear in court.

The remaining four people arrested have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
