Expected to open at the end of 2016, The Hive will offer a wide range of activities for young people between eight and 19 to and up to 25 for those with a disability – including dance, sport, fitness, music and media.

The hoardings illustrate three key factors: 'Pride in Wirral', 'Branding and Values' and the ‘Youth Zone Offer’ and they will be fixed by contractors H.H. Smith & Sons on the site boundary on the junction of Exmouth St and Claughton Road.

Founder Patron URENCO UK, has been working with the young people to convert their ideas into creative designs, which will offer a sneak preview of what Wirral’s young people can expect from their Youth Zone.

Neil Fagan, communications manager at URENCO UK said: "Having the opportunity to work alongside the young people has been a privilege.

"I've been completely overwhelmed by their creativity and confidence to share their ideas and offer constructive feedback, you can really tell how much the Youth Zone means to them and their peers.

"All credit to the dedicated group of young people that we worked with; their creativity really has come to fruition with these designs.

"As a founder patron of The Hive, we feel that it's really important to offer more than just financial support and the hoardings project has allowed us to do just that.”

Alex Toland, a member of the young people's development group said: "They look really good and they are very creative.

"The use of the bright colours will make it stand out to passers-by and I think they really do showcase the friendly ‘personality’ The Hive will offer.

"I liked the fact that the designers actually listened and made our dreams become real."

The Hive's general manager Stuart Barnes is excited about showcasing the completed designs.

He said: "Involving young people in the process of a Youth Zone is imperative – it is a facility for young people, developed by young people.

"The Young People’s Development Group has played a key role in the design of these hoardings and they should be proud of their efforts.

"The group took many of the photographs used in the hoardings and their ideas were inspiring.

"I want to take this opportunity to thank URENCO for their ongoing commitment to the project, it is businesses like them that are making the Youth Zone a reality for Wirral."

The build of the Youth Zone is well underway with the foundations laid and the steel frame now erected.

The next step is to fit the roof after which a Topping Out celebration will be held later in the year with completion expected in early 2017.

The Hive will cost £1million per year to run and this will be secured through a combination of public sector and private sector funding.
