MERSEYSIDE Police say officers investigating the disappearance of 45-year-old Simon Watson from Prenton found the body of a man yesterday, Friday.
"At this time the death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem will take place to establish the cause," said a force spokesman.
"The body is yet to be formally identified, but in the meantime we would ask the public to respect the privacy of Simon’s family as they come to terms with this tragic news."
Mr Watson went missing from home almost a month ago.
He was last seen in person at 5pm on Wednesday, June 29 on Holm Lane in Prenton, and was later seen on CCTV in a bank in Birkenhead on Saturday, July 2.
However there had been no further confirmed sightings, and both the police and Simon's family had become increasingly concerned for his welfare.
