THERE is a month to go until the 23rd annual Hoylake 10k Coastal charity fun.

Taking place on Sunday, September 25, the Globe-backed event raises funds for a special needs club in the town.

It starts outside Hoylake Community Centre in Hoyle Road at 11am.

Proceeds go to the Wednesday Special Needs Club’s Soft Play Sensory Resource.

Teddy Bears' picnic

A Teddy Bear's picnic event in aid of North West Air Ambulance takes place at Moreton Methodist Church in Pasture Road, Moreton on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29.

Attractions on the day include children's face painting, bouncy castle, airbrush body art tattoo & stencilling, children's nail art plus lots of activities including a funny take on lucky dip called 'Socky Wocky Do Dah'.

There will be plenty of opportunities to win a teddy, including 'Guess The Teddy's Name' and even 'Rent a Ted' for the day.

There will lots surprises and activities for children of all ages at this event, so bring your favourite teddy bear along, a packed lunch and a blanket to sit on.

There will be live music on the day including children's entertainment and folk/mainstream band 'The Survivors'.

This event starts at 12 noon and entry is £1 per child.

When I think of you...

A picture, a few words, even a scent can conjure up the memory of a loved one without warning.

Wirral Hospice are hoping that you can capture that idea in their When I Think of You competition.

Entrants are being asked to submit a picture, either a photo or one they've created themselves, accompanied by 50 words to explain the thought.

Jo Coulson of Wirral Hospice St John's said: "We are hoping that our competition will help people to trigger their memories."

Taekwondo open day

Wirral & Chester Taekwondo Academy is holding an open day later this month.

Taking place at its premises in unit 7, Grisedale Road, Bromborough, on Saturday August 27, it will be a chance to see the facilities and meet some of the team and students.

Water colours

Popular water-based oil painting and life drawing sessions start in the week of September 5 at Melrose Hall Hoylake.

Oil painting sessions will be held on Mondays 10am to midday, Life drawing 1pm to 3pm and 7pm to 9pm, on Tuesdays.

Bird group

Photographer and bird enthusiast William Boyce will be Wirral RSPB's guest when it meets next Thursday, September 1.

His bird-related talk will feature the island of Sri Lanka and promises to be an entertaining and educational evening.

Hilbre walk

Globe readers are invited to join a walk to Hilbre Island this Friday, August 26.

Organised by Wirral Wildlife, the walk is described as ideal for children and families and will include a seaside scavenger hunt, rock pool dipping, bird and seal watching.

Not suitable for children under five because of the long distance across to the island. Cost: £5 adults/ £3 children.

It takes place from 10am to 3pm, arrive at 9.45am - prompt start due to tides.

West Kirby Farmers' Market will be open this Saturday, August 27, from 9am to 1pm, at St Andrew's Church Hall in Graham Road.

Hilbre seal watching

There's a chance to go seal watching on Hilbre lsland this Sunday, August 28, from 11.30am to 4.30pm.

Volunteers from the Friends of Hilbre will set up a telescope and binoculars near the island's telegraph station, weather-permitting.

Royden art display

An art exhibition is being held at the Coach House in Royden Park. A variety of high-quality paintings will be on display and available to buy.

The exhibition will be open daily, from 11am until 4pm, until this Sunday, August 28.
