A WIRRAL school is calling on readers to vote for them in a competition to win cash for a new sensory garden.

Rock Ferry primary school has submitted an application to Skipton’s Building Society’s "grassroots giving fund" to create a serenity sensory garden.

Their application has made it through to the second round and it’s now up to a public vote to decide if they will receive the funding.

The garden will replace part of the Key Stage 2 playground and will be an area for children to interact and explore.

The school hopes the area will be recognised as a place of rest and comfort and pupils will return to learning in a positive frame of mind.

Features include wooden chimes, fountain and willow fencing.

Headteacher Sara Radley said: ”It’s great we’ve made it this far with our application and we really would appreciate the support from the local community to help Rock Ferry primary school secure funding.

“A serenity sensory garden would be a fabulous resource for our school.”
