HAVE you ever been to Neston and wondered what there is to see or do?
We have gathered a list of six of the best things and attractions to see in and around the town.
1. Walk around Ness Gardens
The gardens cover some 64 acres, houses a living collection of 15,000 plants many of which were early introductions from China, the Himalayas, Tibet and Burma.
It is open all year round and events include guided tours and outdoor concerts. There is also a Garden Kitchen Café for a light bite, meal or sweet treat.
Ness Gardens are also celebrating their 125th anniversary as a botanical garden this year and 75th anniversary as a university garden.
2. Go to Neston's Friday market
First appearing in 1728 when King George III granted a royal charter for a weekly market, Neston Friday market has been a popular and well-loved weekly event for decades.
There are stalls ranging from food to household items to plants.
You can visit the Market every Friday from 8am-2pm.
3. Take a trip to RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands
Described as ‘one of the best birdwatching places in the UK’. The RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands has a free car park, with £6 entrance.
With easy walking trails, lots to see and open views, it is perfect for nature lovers who want to explore the wildlife on offer in Neston.
4. Visit Briarfield Gardens
As part of the National Garden Scheme, Briarfield Gardens are open for charity. Their gardens have helped many locals find inspiration over the years.
They have also helped people with long-term illnesses and those going through bereavement. It is a good way to get involved with the local community!
Elizabeth Carter, owner of Briarfield Garden, is celebrating 32 years with the scheme this year.
She said: "Sharing my garden with others is a large and enjoyable part of my life."
5. See the blossom trees in Stanney Fields Park
Set in the heart of Neston town centre, the park is easily accessible by its five entrance points making it a great place for relaxing; playing sport; walking your dog and family picnics.
It has its own on site gardener, an active Friends group and a regular programme of events including sports coaching sessions, annual fun day and dog show.
6. Take a walk down Parkgate
You can enjoy the scenic paths with family or friends down in Parkgate. Keep an eye out for wildlife as you make your way along.
You can grab an ice cream at Nicholls or get some fish and chips from Parkgate Fish & Chips.
It is a great day out!
