WEIGHT-loss experts are needed "to help make difference to people’s health and happiness across the Wirral”

Chris Robinson-Lloyd and Craig Jackson, Slimming World consultants and area managers who joint manage the Wirral area, have been busy recruiting to rebuild their teams and have had six new consultants open groups across the borough this year, now running weekly groups in their local communities.

Alison Liptrot new consultant on Chris’s team, who runs her Wednesday night group in Irby said: "I wanted to help people change their lives like I’d changed mine. It really is the most incredibly rewarding role, I love it, seeing people step off the scales feeling great about themselves and their achievements each week – especially when you know exactly how brilliant that feels yourself.

"And you get loads of support, encouragement and training from Slimming World in the background too."

Chris Robinson said the opportunity comes as many of us continue to struggle with weight and associated health risks including hypertension, cancer and Type 2 diabetes. According to the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO), overweight and obesity are the fifth leading risk for global deaths.

EASO also reports that 44% of the diabetes burden, 23% of the ischaemic heart disease burden and between 7% and 41% of certain cancer burdens are attributable to overweight and obesity.

Recent research by Slimming World found that losing weight as part of a socially connected group can help achieve weight loss success. Slimming World asked the members of their 7,700 community weight loss groups how attending a weekly group supported their weight loss journey.

Three in four group members who responded said they were more confident and self-assured (74%) as a result and 93% of Slimming World members felt committed to their weight loss Slimming World Consultants are highly motivated to inspire others to lead happier and healthier lives. The only qualification required is to have empathy and compassion and commitment to building a successful group. The most successful Consultants build buzzing, thriving and fun groups, where members feel cared for and safe, and are supported to make positive changes.

Chris said: "The opportunity to become a self-employed Slimming World Consultant provides plenty of flexibility and fits around most lifestyles. Successful Consultants can choose whether to work full-time running several groups or part-time running just one group to fit around family and other commitments.

"Slimming World is committed to helping consultants succeed and there will be development opportunities for successful Consultants to lead a local team.

"We are inviting members, former members and family and friends to attend an Opportunity event to find out more about becoming a self-employed franchisee Consultant.

"Come along to an informal and join us on Thursday 1st December 2022 at 6.30pm Holiday Inn, Chester West Westbound A55, Northrop Hall, CH7 6HB."

Chris continued: "At the heart of everything we do lies our passion for treating every member with genuine care, empathy and respect.
