TRANMERE Rovers have announced that the club will be opening its doors at Prenton Park to host Eid prayers.
Rovers will become the second football club in the UK to host the Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers on a football pitch for the local Muslim community.
Eid-Ul-Fitr follows the completion of the fasting month of Ramadan, were Muslims typically fast by refraining from eating and drinking during daylight hours.
The club is working in partnership with the Wirral Deen Centre, Mosque and Community Centre.
The event will either take place on Friday 21 or Saturday 22 April which will be announced nearer the time.
The Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers will take place at 9.15am and with gates opening at 8.30am. The prayers will end by 10am were families can go and continue their celebrations together.
‘Eid at Prenton Park’ is open to people and families of all ages, with provisions in place for both men and women to pray on the pitch. Those who attend are asked to bring their own prayer mat with them. In the case of bad weather, an indoor alternative will be in place.
