A WOMAN said she had an "incredible experience" after completing the London Marathon for the first time ever.

Michelle Remelie, 32, from Cheshire, decided to run the London Marathon to raise money for mental health charity, Chapter, as she believes "that everyone is affected by mental health in some way".

Chapter help people all over Wirral, Cheshire, Cheshire West and Cheshire East.

Their main aim is to support people who are affected by ill mental health. This could be people diagnosed with serious mental illnesses, or people who may not be diagnosed at all or even ever have seen a GP.

The charity deal with adults over the age of 18 suffering from such illnesses as anxiety or depression to help them develop tools and techniques and build on their own strengths to help them manage it better.

This was Michelle's first ever marathon and she spoke about entering.

She said: "I entered the London Marathon Ballot for the first time with the outlook ‘if it’s meant to be it will be’ and I was lucky enough to be pulled out to run the 2023 London Marathon.

"I wanted to find a small local charity that would really benefit from the funds raised.

"After spending time researching, I came across an amazing local charity Chapter. They are dedicated in improving the lives of people experiencing mental health and provide a pathway of support that gives Hope, Support and the opportunities to make connections."

"The streets of London were lined with people, the support was unreal even on a rainy day", Michelle explained.

"I am feeling very lucky and privileged with all the support and love I have received with raising up to £1,575 to date with donations still pouring in.

"With this being my first ever marathon this was an incredible experience. The last three miles I found difficult with pain in my right leg, however, I completed it in 4.47.02."

A spokesperson for Chapter said: "Michelle has kept in touch the whole way through her marathon journey from first meet up to finishing the marathon. She put in so much effort with her training and fundraising, and we are so proud of her.

"She’s done amazingly well and has raised so much money for Chapter. We are so grateful and honoured that she chose us. Thank you Michelle!"
