A WIRRAL man is taking on his biggest challenge yet after his wife suffered recurrent miscarriages.

Daniel Marsden, and his wife, Rebecca, 40, have been together for ten years.

The 34-year-old from Woodchurch has always had an interest in fundraising for charity, after he spent some years in youth housing when he was 18 before joining the armed forces.

Four years ago, Rebecca suffered recurrent miscarriages, which Daniel explained as a "tragedy".

Daniel found the charity Tommy's, who specialise in miscarriage awareness and prevention.

Since then he has taken on a challenge every year, fundraising for Tommy's and one year for Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. Daniel's challenges have included a 24-hour gaming stream, completing the Wirral Walk and climbing Mount Snowdon.

Speaking to the Globe, he said: "Every year I want to do something bigger and better, to challenge myself."

From Saturday, July 1 Daniel, along with his friend Sean Hayes, 34, from Eastham, Paul Moss from Warrington and Karl Murton, an Ex-Navy serviceman, from Essex will be attempting to climb the Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) in three days.

"We've done lots of preparation this year", Daniel added.

"I've been stair climbing and long walks, and I've lost two stone."

Talking about dealing with the trauma of miscarriages, Daniel spoke about how important it is to speak to people.

"Speaking to other people about my grief has really helped", Daniel said.

"I found it really hard to talk about it at first because I went into alpha-male mode and wanted to just support my wife.

"It wasn't until a year after I had a breakdown at work and everything got on top of me.

"It's ok to cry and speak out as men."
