A HUSBAND has paid tribute to his "courageous" wife after she died following a battle with cancer aged 33.
Kirsty Guy, from Ellesmere Port and mum to Scarlett (six) and Hallie (three), was a pupil at Whitby Heath Primary School and Whitby High Secondary School.
Her career, since she was 17 years old, was working in a nursery.
Shaun Guy, Kirsty's husband, explained how she "enjoyed being social with her friends" and going away on trips to the theatre, Disneyland and holidays abroad.
"Our first trip as a couple was to Mexico, and we had our honeymoon in Rhodes", Shaun said.
The couple got married in 2018 at St Paul's Church in Hooton and Shaun said Kirsty was "so happy" on the day.
He added: "She married the love of her life, her best friend and soul mate. It was the best day of our lives, seeing so many friends and family together and celebrating with us was remarkable."
The couple shared having a wedding and two children together, along with so many more memories.
"We had various trips and Spain was our most recent abroad. We finished off at Centreparcs as Kirsty wasn't allowed to fly due to her illness", Shaun said.
The diagnosis
Kirsty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 whilst pregnant with Hallie. She "stormed" through chemotherapy and gave birth prematurely. She had radiotherapy and a mastectomy but was given the all-clear in 2020.
In April 2022 the family received the worst news imaginable. Kirsty was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer (secondary cancer) and this time it was in her lungs.
She was told it was terminal and began various treatments to prolong her life.
Shaun said: "All our friends and family were very supportive, they were there when we needed anything, even though Kirsty hated to ask."
On Wednesday, May 10, a scan confirmed the cancer had spread to Kirsty's brain.
Shaun, Kirsty's mum and her three best friends were all by her side at the Countess of Chester Hospital as she took her last breath on Saturday, May 27.
"The tough times will last forever", Shaun explained.
"Leaving behind myself and our two daughters.There is a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.
"We are strong for each other and have the best support system in our friends and family.
"For anyone who doesn't know Kirsty, she had a heart of gold, wanted to make sure that everybody else was ok before herself.
"She had a very contagious laugh that made everybody else laugh and she loved a bottle of blue WKD.
"We were all proud of how she took it step by step, tried different chemos to make her life longer for her two girls.
"Each bit of bad news was just a shrug of the shoulder for her and she got on with it. She was so very strong-willed and courageous. Such an influence to anyone going through a bad time."
The funeral
Kirsty's funeral will take place on Thursday (June 15) at Blacon Crematorium, followed by a wake at Groves Sports and Social Club in Ellesmere Port.
Sky full of stars by Coldplay, Easy on Me by Adele and You've got the Love by Florence and the Machine will all be played during the service.
Shaun said: "Her only wish, was for everybody attending to wear bright colours because she wants people to celebrate her life and not be sad."
Donations at the funeral will to go to Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.
