THE father of Elle Edwards has set off on a walk to Lands End to help raise more money for a foundation he has set up in her memory.
Elle Edwards was shot and killed outside the Lighthouse Pub in Wallasey on Christmas Eve.
Her murderer, Connor Chapman, 23, was jailed for a minimum of 48 years in July.
Tim Edwards, Elle's father, set up a GoFundMe page earlier this month to raise funds for the Elle Edwards Foundation, which will help families affected by gun crime while raising awareness about anti-gun and knife crime across the world.
Mr Edwards joined actor and comedian John May in Worcester on his walk from Lands End to John O'Groats in February to raise awareness of knife and gun crime on Merseyside and John's campaign, Weapons Down Gloves Up.
As he didn't start the walk with John, and missed the first 250 miles of the challenge, the pair have set off today (August 7) to complete the remainder of the journey and raise more funds for the Elle Edwards Foundation.
In a post on Instagram yesterday (Sunday, August 6) John wrote: "What a year this has been...We go again me and @tim_edw4rds leave Worcester tomorrow bag pack and stick in hand and head to #landsend so tim can complete his challenge... He asked me to come along and I simply could not say no.. so here we are ... We want to raise the funds to set up @elle_edwards_foundation to create a place to support families in tims position..."
The pair appeared on BBC Hereford and Worcester radio this morning (August 7) to talk about their walk to Lands End.
Speaking to radio presenter Elliott Webb, Mr Edwards said: "When I got to John O'Groats John gave me an award which says Lands End to John O'Groats but it annoyed me because I couldn't say I'd done the whole thing.
"After the trial, I bumped into John outside court and I said to John I need to finish this walk, do you fancy coming with me?"
John added: "I'm looking forward to Tim seeing the parts he hasn't seen."
Speaking about the foundation, Tim, said: "There's no set goal of an amount we're looking to raise, but we're looking to get enough money to get the foundation up and running.
"It'll go towards helping other families and we're going to help them which ever way we can."
