A WIRRAL village has been named one of the best in the UK.
The data, released on September 8 by consumer experts Which?, revealed a list of the UK’s best towns and villages.
Readers rated inland locations for their peace and quiet, scenery, food and drink and more.
More than 9,000 Which? members rated the inland towns and villages they'd visited, with the top spots going to Wells in Somerset and Avebury in Wiltshire.
Wirral's Port Sunlight was also named in the list, coming joint third with Corfe Castle, both receiving a destination score of 80%.
Which? explained that "Port Sunlight was built by the Sunlight Soap mogul William Hesketh Lever to house his workers in a community of cottages and leafy boulevards".
Calling it an "ideal village" that is "just a 15-minute drive from Liverpool" and "continues to draw visitors with its fascinating mix of architectural styles across 900 listed buildings".
It also said that "despite its small size – it has fewer than 1,500 residents. Port Sunlight got four stars for tourist attractions.
"One to see is the Lady Lever Art Gallery, a beautiful, neo-classical building home to a fine collection of pre-Raphaelite paintings."
The town received four stars for attractiveness and a full five stars for peace and quiet.
