AN orangutan helping to teach children "the importance of sustainability and environmental awareness" is coming to Heswall.

Five years ago, two primary school teachers, Sam Bryan, from Pensby and Joseph Parsonage, from Irby, embarked on a mission to "revolutionise" education through Teach Rex.

The educational business has been at the forefront of inspiring young minds through interactive learning experiences; not only in the UK but worldwide and has recently been shortlisted for the national Bett Award.

Best known for its engaging dinosaur, dragon and gorilla-themed learning experiences, Joe and Sam have unveiled a new addition to the Teach Rex family, Fito, the Borneo Orangutan.

Fito has travelled to the UK and is "eager to assist in educating children about the importance of sustainability and environmental awareness with additional school activities that have been sent to support schools".

In celebration of Fito's arrival and to ring in the New Year on a positive note, Teach Rex is inviting children and their families to a special event on New Year's Eve at Heswall Hall.

The event will run from 10am-12pm and tickets are available here.

Guests are encouraged to bring their Christmas waste paper, providing a hands-on opportunity to learn about waste reduction and recycling.

Attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to meet Fito up close and capture moments with the Borneo orangutan.

The team at Teach Rex are "excited to continue fostering their love for learning whilst promoting sustainability through this new and exciting collaboration with Fito".
