Play recorder

WIRRAL Recorder Orchestra is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an appeal for more members.

The group was founded in September 1998 to enable players from the Wirral to meet and play together. It gives two concerts a year and meets on the second Saturday each month at 3pm.

Join the bands

WIRRAL Pop Orchestra is looking for new members. Its repertoire includes pop, cinema and musical theatre. It rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm-10pm at St Annes Parish Centre on Highfield Road in Rock Ferry. There is currently no audition.

Wirral Big Band also needs trombone and trumpet players. It rehearses on Monday evenings from 8pm-10.30pm at the same venue. Interested in joining either band, email: bformston@gmail.com.

Race For Life

ENTRIES are now being taken for this year’s Wirral Race For Life events in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Taking place in Birkenhead Park on Sunday, May 19, it is open to people of all ages and abilities where mums, dads, sons, daughters, grandparents and friends can choose from 3k and 5k events.

There will also be a chance on the day to take part in Pretty Muddy, a 5k mud-splattered obstacle course, and there’s a Pretty Muddy Kids option.

Family festival

THE main stage line-up has been confirmed for a family festival including a live music stage, dance music arena and a kid’s stage coming to Wirral this year.

The Wirral Family Festival is at Tranmere Rovers’ Prenton Park ground on Saturday, May 11 from 12pm-11pm.

It will feature a live music stage on the pitch with tribute bands covering genres such as rock, pop, indie, ska and reggae.

There will also be a dance music arena including well-known local house music DJs. Also among the entertainment will be superhero shows, pony rides and talent shows.

The line-up for the main stage is:
