I'D love to see this remarkable concept show all over again.

Why? Because it will be different in every single performance that takes to the boards.

This is pure creative theatrical 'spontaneity' that will charm you with each joyous and unique showcase - an uplifting celebration of the art of improvisation.

Being a fan of the TV classic 1980s and '90s improv comedy series Whose Line Is it Anyway? I was more than happy to see this now acclaimed company's first ever visit to Liverpool and the Playhouse with the sparkling Showstopper!

Showstopper! Is completely improvised: the music, choreography, dialogue.

Nothing is prepared and there are no audience plants.

If you like musicals, great singing and faultless comic timing, you won't be disappointed with what this cracking ensemble team offer - all hands to the deck as they lovingly putting together a musical show with a little help from their friends . . . the audience.

It has been a star of the Edinburgh Fringe for fourteen years, a BBC Radio 4 series, and a successful West End run. An Olivier Award proves that they mean business. They are clearly never lost for words or ideas.

To use a showbiz adage 'it's a smash hit' and long may it continue to delight theatre fans of all ages across the globe.

So how does showstopper! work?

In the show, the audience meets a writer of musicals who is on a deadline - the phone rings and he needs help.

He invites the audience to shout out suggestions of settings, musical styles and the title of the show itself. Hey presto - we have conjured up a show. Now they have to deliver it.

Versatile performers impress from the outset using a minimum of props. An on stage band comprising percussion and keyboards provide the music throughout which utilises the styles of writers such as Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein.

I can happily give away the ending of the show I saw called Between the Sheets because it won't be performed again. There simply won't be another performance like it.

A tale of love and romance in a care home with a touching wedding finale and a running gag about the Lighthouse Family pop group.

We were also treated to songs sung in the style of West End and Broadway classics Hamilton, Book of Mormon and Hairspray.

During the interval we were encouraged to tweet suggestions for the second half.

You ain't seen or heard nothing yet from the multi-talented Showstopper! cast and crew.

Every slick two hour show is a hugely entertaining premiere packed with infectious, intelligent improv.

Catch it while you can.

VERDICT: Five stars - musical magic
