Hibernation is over! Green spears of spring plants are already pushing through saturated soils of Wirral gardens and woodlands alike, and my dogs aren’t quite so reluctant to leave the warmth of their old--and slightly chewed--blanket.

This blog’s apparent hibernation is over, also! Did anyone miss me? *chuckles*

First my ancient computer finally flew off to the rusting computer rack in the sky, and then there were a few techie issues. All is now resolved--hence me being here, typing this! Thanks go to Katy Lang and Dave Chana who helped sort things out.

Ah, computers--don’t you just love ‘em! Actually, despite the inherent uphill battle against a bewildering technology, yes, I do.

Riverside Writers

Last night’s gathering of some of Wirral’s finest writers was well-attended, and we were joined by local author Anthony Peake who’s non-fiction books explain his theory about reincarnation. However, on Monday evening he shared a short story.

January’s group project was to write a poem or short story on the theme of a paper bag. The purpose of this was to demonstrate that even mundane things can be used to generate a piece of creative writing. People sometimes fall into the trap of waiting for some dazzling flash of mind-blowing inspiration. Well, if you wait for this you’ll be waiting for a very long time!

True to form, the participating members of Riverside Writers produced a wide variety of interesting verse and fiction.

Four members of the group will be guests on Cath Bore's Lunchtime Forum show on Friday, when they will be reading some of their fiction. Listen in to 7 Waves Radio on 92.1 FM between 1pm and 2pm.
