TRANMERE Rovers' striker Cole Stockton has signed a new three-year contract with the club today.

The 20-year old was already under contract for the remainder of 2014-15 but will now stay at Prenton Park until summer 2017.

The Academy product made his first team debut in January 2012 and has since made 68 appearances, scoring ten times. Rovers are yet to lose in a match in which Stockton has scored.

Manager Rob Edwards said: "Cole has impressed me over the last couple of months.

"He's a talented young footballer with loads of potential. He's got a hammer of a right foot which will get us goals, but we’re trying to add more things to his game too.

"If he continues to apply himself and show the right attitude he’s got a bright future ahead of him in the game and at this club."

Cole said: "I was really pleased the Club offered me a new contract and couldn’t wait to sign.

"I've enjoyed playing for the Manager over the past couple of months and aim to repay him and the club on the pitch."

Football operations director Mick Horton said: “We are determined to develop the best players that our Academy produces and Cole certainly fits into that category.

“The length of this contract shows our commitment to progress good young players at this club. We will give talented youngsters a chance to turn into top class players.

“This contract should also act as a message to all the young players, and their parents, in the local area.

“It shows that by joining Tranmere Rovers Academy, you will be given every chance of achieving your dream of playing first team football for your local club.”

Stockton joins fellow former-Tranmere Rovers Academy players Jason Koumas, Jake Kirby, Sam Ramsbottom and Liam Davies in signing new contracts with the Club this summer.
