THOUGH the evening bowls programme is now over the Birkenhead and Wirral Afternoon Section still has a couple of weeks to go.

It is very close in the first division with Tixall and Higher Tranmere Vets vying for top spot.

Tixall's are probably the favourites to emulate their evening team's success as they have a slight lead and have played one fewer games.

It is quite different in the second division as Harrison Park are the comfortable leaders while in the third division Cammell Lairds have a narrow lead and have played one fewer games than their closest rivals Thingwall 'B'.

Port Sunlight Village and Works are the runaway leaders in division four with Tixall 'B' a distant second.

The fifth division is the closest of all five divisions with Capenhurst 'C' and RNA 'B' neck and neck with just three games to go.
