A GOAL from Max Power sealed Tranmere's place in the third round of the FA Cup as Rovers triumphed 2-1 over Oxford United at Prenton Park.

Oxford had taken the lead through Alfie Potter with Kayode Odejayi equalising in the first half before Power's ninth goal of the season, in the 76th minute, set up a home tie against Premier League Swansea City in round three.

Tranmere manager Micky Adams said "I'm pleased with the win and that we're through to the third round, whether we deserved it or not is another matter.

“Oxford out-passed us and out-played us, I think everybody could see that.

“We struggled at times but we showed a lot of spirit to come from a goal down and to be in the next round is great for everyone concerned.

"I think we looked leggy all game.

“It was a heavy pitch and the schedule we've had recently with the Johnstone’s Paints games has caught up with us, so it's all about rest and recuperation now before we play Cambridge on Friday.

"But we showed terrific character and spirit and a bit of resilience at the end and I'm really pleased for everybody.”
