TRANMERE Rovers' boss Micky Adams hopes to send former manager Ronnie Moore's bottom-of-the table Hartlepool United away empty-handed when they face eachother in League Two action at Prenton Park this weekend.

Saturday's match, kick off 3pm, will be the two clubs' 116th league meeting, with Rovers holding a 52 wins to 38 advantage.

They beat Accrington Stanley 3-0 last weekend. Adams said his squad had 'set the benchmark for the rest of the season' and hoped for a repeat performance on Saturday.

Rovers are currently 22nd place on the table. Victory tomorrow could lift them as high as 16th, though that would require a number of favourable results elsewhere.

During a press conference at Prenton Park, he said: "Normally we’re the underdogs, and while I wouldn’t say the pressure is on us, what we need to do is replicate what we did against Accrington Stanley.

"Our effort and enthusiasm for the game has got to be spot on, our attitude and our mindset…if we can do that we’ll be fine.

"Ronnie knew the problems he would face coming into Hartlepool as I did coming here. You go into it with your eyes open.

"All football managers think they can change things, rescue and perform miracles. But there’s no real magic formula.

"It's all about players. If you've got a decent group of players or the ability to change things around it helps, and you can get your stamp on a squad it helps.

"Ronnie has been quoted in the press as saying this is a massive game for himself, and I can understand that.

"But it's not about me or Ronnie Moore, there's very little we can influence once they cross that white line. You’ve got to rely and trust in your players to get results for you.

"We've set the benchmark last week in terms of performances for the rest of the season and we need to put on a show against Hartlepool.

“We've got to get it right in our heads more than anything. We've always been the underdogs this season, we’re the favourites now and that’s a different tag for us."

The two sides drew 0-0 at Victoria Park earlier this season. A goal from Neil Austin gave Pools a 1-0 win in their last visit to Prenton Park. Rovers' most recent home win over Hartlepool was 1-0 in August 2008.

Midfielder Max Power is back in Adams' squad back into his squad for tomorrow's game. He missed last week's 3-0 win over Accrington Stanley due to illness. But Marcus Holness, Matt Hill and Liam Davies are all unavailable through injury.

Since former Ronnie Moore took over at Victoria Park, Hartlepool have won one, drawn two and lost three.
