TRANMERE Rovers' new manager Gary Brabin has made his first signing as the club prepares for next season.

Striker James Norwood comes to Prenton Park on a two-year deal. The 24-year old's contract will come into effect on July 1 when he will join up with his new team mates for pre-season training.

Norwood, who started his career at Exeter City, has spent the past four seasons at Forest Green Rovers, scoring 49 goals in 165 appearances.

He has scored four times in seven appearances for the England C team.

Manager Gary Brabin, who took up the role last week, said: "I'm delighted to make James my first signing.

"He was someone I knew I wanted to bring to the club the day I became manager.

“He’s got a good scoring record in the Conference and I know he can get better.

"But he’s got more than goals to his game, he’s someone who will work his socks off up front and make life difficult for the opposition.

"He had interest from League One and League Two clubs but he wanted to be a part of our plans here and I’m really pleased to be able to add him to my squad."
