HIGHER Tranmere Vets' Peter Webster has won the The Wirral and District's Veterans Handicap Tournament for a second consecutive year.

In the final of the tournament played on the Manor Road green he beat his team mate at Tranmere, Brian Somerville.

Webster was the model of consistency throughout the day and dominated most of the games he played.

In the quarters he beat Upton Victory Hall's Norman Feeley and then Oxton Cons Steve Cliff in the semi-final.

Somerville showed great form throughout his qualifying games beating Harrison Park's Tom Davies in the quarter final and Heswall RBL's Geoff Dewhurst in the semi.

Unfortunately for Somerville his form seemed to desert him in the final and Webster took full advantage of this to sweep to a fairly convincing victory.
