NEWTON climbed to third place in the Carlsberg West Cheshire League's Division One after a match-winning four-goal salvo from man-of-the-match Dom Coddington set up Saturday's 6-0 eclipse of Chester visitors, Blacon YC, at Millcroft.

A smart double from Danny Dunleavy completed the scoreline as Lee Kissock's charges recorded their third victory in succession.

Leaders, Cammell Laird 1907 Res.sufffered a 4-1 defeat at Mallaby in midweek, but re-captured top spot after a towering header from Dave Bowe secured maximum spoils following a 1-0 nail biter with previous leaders, Chester Nomads.

John Atkinson obliged with both goals, as Vauxhall Motors savoured a 2-0 decision over Mossley Hill Ath, while second-placed new boys, Rainhill Town, profited, after they beat Upton AA 4-3, courtesy of a goal apiece from Liam Ryder, Dave Monteith, Taylor Jeffries and Col Lynch.

Upton's contribution came from Darren Wallace, Lee Guirado and Lewis Denny.

Honours were shared, after a goal from Capenhurst Villa's Danny Higginson was negated by a reply from Hale's Josh Doran. 

But, despite efforts from Andy Kngam (2) and John Clampitt, Heswall went down 6-3 at Helsby, who had Adam Collins (3) Matty Johnson (2) and Dean Walker on the mark.

Reigning champions, South Liverpool, remain rooted to the foot of the table, but opened their account at the fourth time of asking, when goals from Danny Ventre and Louis Faye helped them to a 2-2 stalemate with West Kirby & Wasps.

The visitors hit back via Jordan Griffiths and Chris Reilly.

Newly promoted Neston Nomads occupy top spot in Division Two and remained unbeaten, after a John Llolyd effort and an own goal anchored them to a 2-1 result over Maghull Res.

Nearest rivals, Willaston, maintained their 100% record, thanks to Saturday's 3-0 defeat of Marshalls, highlighted by a fine double from Paul Wallace.

Another two-goal hero was Redgate Rovers' Craig Blackwell, who left his calling card in is side's 2-0 triumph at Vauxhall Motors Res.

Doubles from Jay O'Donnell, Jay McDonald and a single from Jonathan Parkinson propelled free-scoring Richmond Raith Rovers to a 5-2 win against Mossley Hill Ath Res.

A solitary effort from Craig Byrne was enough for South Liverpool Res. to get the job done at Hale Res.

John Humphries (2) and Josh Peake found the net for Kirkby Town Railway, who emerged 3-2 victors following an entertaining tussle at Ashville, while West Kirby & Wasps Res. were indebted to goals from Tommy Johnstone and Joe Lamb for their narrow 2-1 finish against Southport Trinity.

Saturday's Division Three action saw Ford Motors retain pole position, after a goal from John McEvoy earned them the nod at Ellesmere Port Town.

Second-placed Heswall Res. stayed in contetention, thanks to a 4-3 win against local rivals, Newton Res. Kieran Hughes (2) Ross Pringle and Kev Walker netted for the winners.

Newcomers, Cheshire Lines, succeeded 3-0 at Chester Nomads Res, with goals from Matt Hints, Steve Megarry and Johnny Dunn.

But efforts from Ashville Res' Aiden O'Toole and Mike Watson were in vain, after Upton AA Res claimed a 4-2 result inspired by a Steve Millington brace.
