TRANMERE Rovers' manager Gary Brabin hopes the club's army of fans will help turn Prenton Park into a fortress for the final game of the season.

Their play-off dreams were kept intact after a late header from James Norwood took them to victory against Eastleigh on Saturday.

They now head into the crucial last game needing a win against Grimsby - while also hoping that Altrincham can win away at Braintree Town.

Brabin said: "It's the last game and a lot to play for.

"We are right up against a good side. They have their place in the play-offs but we just need to focus on our performance on Saturday.

"The lads are quite relaxed, preparing as normal. We're having a good week, giving ourselves the best chance.

"If we can finish on 78 points it will be the best result we can get. The club's heading in the right direction.

"The fans have had a difficult couple of years but their support has been incredible this season and we hope it is even stronger on Saturday.

"We urge them to help us turn Prenton Park into a fortress on Saturday."

Assessing Braintree’s chances against Altrincham this weekend, Brabin said: "They have done an excellent job this season and have always been on the fringe of things.

"They have got this siege mentality, that's always kept them around the play-offs in the last three games.

"But as I have always said we must concentrate on our own performance."

James Norwood picked up three honours at the club's end of season awards dinner on Sunday evening.

The main awards were shared between Norwood, Adam Mekki and Scott Davies.

Norwood took home the awards for Goal of the Season for his strike against Woking, supporters' club player of the season and player of the season.

Adam Mekki won the Junior Superwhites Player of the Season and young player of the season, while goalkeeper Davies picked up the Players’ Player of the Season.

On Norwood's success, his boss said: "It's been his personal best season and he believes he will get better and better."
