THE Wallasey Federation team finished their season on a high note on Sunday with a brilliant 26-06 victory over Furness.

They had 10 winners in the home tie at Upton Victory Hall with Craig Saville's 21-06 the pick of the bunch.

In the away leg at Walney Park they had another 8 winners with Brian Leonard recording an amazing 21-04 win.

This win ensures promotion yet again.

After being the runners up for the last two years Gladstone won the Cheshire Association's Brunner Cup.

They beat Houldsworth WMC in a close fought match in Cornerback on Saturday.

Though they won by just two points they thoroughly deserved this victory.

The Wirral and District's Ashman Pairs finals were played on Saturday at Royden Hall and the winners were the Heswall RBL pairing of Ray Jones And Ian Johnson.

After beating Steve Gardner and Dave Simcoe in the quarters they had a good win over Paul Saville and Josh Bunting to reach the final when they came up against the Tixall pairing of Robbie Fitzpatrick and Dave McDermott.

The final was tight but the Heswall pair came through with a 21-11 win.

Semi-finals: R Jones & I Johnson 15, P Saville & J Bunting 08; R Fitzpatrick & D McDermott 15, G & J Stead 04.

Final: Jones and Johnson 15, Fitzpatrick and McDermott 11.

Lynsey Gorman and Anita Richardson won the British Crown Green Ladies Dorothy Pierce Memorial Pairs Tournament at Longtime BC last week end.

They had a run of great wins and dominated the tournament.

On Friday the Wallasey Association hosted the Federation over-60s tournament at New Brighton Cricket and Bowling Club.

At the end of the day the winner was John Mort of Bolton who was winning this event for the fifth time.

In the semi-final he only just came through against Jackie Beacham, the last surviving Wallasey player, before he then beat Brian Colman of Southport in the final.
