TRANMERE Rovers have announced PROGRESS Wrestling as their new social media partner for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

The British wrestling promoters are co-owned by Rovers long-standing associate directors, Lee McAteer and Martyn Best.

Mr McAteer and Mr Best have already been supporting the club across a range of marketing, social media and promotional activities.

“I’m really excited to strengthen the links with the Club with Martyn and I being the new owners of PROGRESS Wrestling. I’ve been both a massive Tranmere fan all of my life, and a huge fan of professional wrestling, so it’s brilliant to bring the two together” said Mr McAteer.

Mr McAteer is also the founder and former CEO of the company Wrestling Travel.

“Lee and I are really pleased with PROGRESS Wrestling being a formal sponsor of the Club, and we can bring our expertise to bear across many of the club’s social media platforms including twitter, Instagram and TikTok," said Mr Best.

Tranmere Rovers chairman Mark Palios said he was delighted with the news.

He said: “This is another great example of the ambitions of our football club in being able to attract such an internationally known sporting brand as PROGRESS Wrestling as one of our new sponsors.

“We have many pro-wrestlers amongst our fan base, including the amazing Double J, Jeff Jarrett, a WWE Hall of Famer and it will be interesting to see if we can help PROGRESS Wrestling with some of their north-west shows later in the year.

”I really welcome PROGRESS Wrestling and would like to thank Lee and Martyn for showing their further support and confidence in the club, and it is thrilling partnerships like this which will really add excitement to what will hopefully be a very rewarding season for us.”

Merseyside based promotion, TNT Extreme Wrestling, who are part of the wider PROGRESS Wrestling family, will also benefit from exposure on the Club’s social channels as part of the partnership.
