A GROUP of Wirral trampolinists have performed a number of medal-winning routines at the English Championships.

The trampoline and DMT (Double Mini Trampoline) athletes from Birkenhead Trampoline Club traveled to Telford on July 14 to take part in the three-day English Championships.

Athletes had to enter two qualification events to get to the championships with the best scores from the qualifications ranking them for selection into the competition.

The results...

The team of 10 athletes had many positive results over the weekend, but the top result went to Megan Sprakes, 17, who took on the Senior Ladies Gold DMT event. Megan produced four passes to secure her the gold medal and was crowned the English Champion 2023.

Two other athletes managed to gain the English Champion title in their respective age categories.

Abigail Mawhood, 22, managed to produce four passes including two PBs to claim the Gold medal in the 17+ Silver Level DMT.

Rodrigo Demetrios, 14, completed four passes also to gain him the Gold and English champion in the 13-16yrs Silver DMT event.

Other medal-winning performances went to Alfie Williams, 16, who won Silver in the 15-16 Gold DMT and bronze in the Junior Gold DMT. Declan Carter, 14, won Silver in 13-14 Gold DMT.

Coaches Sarah and Phil said: "We are extremely proud of all athlete’s effort over the weekend. All athletes worked incredibly hard to get to this event and it certainly paid off for them.

"The athletes did a fantastic job representing not only themselves but the club too."

Some of these athletes will now turn their focus on the British Championships which will be held in Birmingham in September, whilst the rest focus on League finals in October.
