ASHVILLE are through to the Third Round of the Isuzu FA Vase after an almost flawless performance against Holker Old Boys in South Cumbria saw them win 3-0.

The game started frantically with both teams trying to take control of the game. An early first time effort from Holker went just wide after two minutes as the hosts looked for an early lead.

Ashville had their first opportunity after six minutes when Tom Davies broke down the right before finding Ben Greenop. The striker was forced wide but still found a low cross to Lewis Moynes who saw his deflected effort only find the keeper.

The next real effort came ten minutes later when a long range effort from Holker dribbled through to Mike Dixon who jumped on the ball easily.

The first half passed by without further notable incident with the score remaining goalless. An even game went into the second half where Ashville would shift through the gears with speed.

It would start with the hosts nearly taking the lead. A fantastic chipped ball in behind found Frankie Ellis who took the effort first time. Dixon didn't blink though and saved well with his legs.

It wouldn't take long for Ashville to take the lead however. With 51 minutes on the clock, Villa won a corner which was whipped into the near post where it found Moynes, who beat the sub keeper, Archie Copeland, to the ball with his header coming off the crossbar and over the line to give Villa the lead.

Dixon was called into action again on 68 mins when a Holker corner found a home head, thankfully Dixon was alert and made a superb fingertip save to preserve Ashville's lead.

Five minutes later and Ashville were millimetres away from doubling the lead after Peter Morgan flashed a brilliant ball across the face of the Holker goal where Tom Davies was sliding in at the back post. Unfortunately the Ashville winger was a hair's breadth away from making contact and the score remained at 1-0.

It would be a very eventful final five minutes beginning with Ashville assistant manager, Ian White, being dismissed from the technical area for kicking the ball away.

Ashville responded to the red card by finally doubling their lead. Moynes played a cross into Greenop whose goal-bound header was parried away by Copeland before  Morgan followed up to smash the ball into an empty net from two yards out.

Ashville wrapped things up in style in added time in a move that emanated from a Holker corner. The ball was cleared and found Greenop but the striker was tackled and the ball fell into the path of Moynes. The Ashville winger then took the ball from the edge of the centre circle all the way down the field before slotting past Copeland.

Moynes' goal was the icing on an Ashville cake built on the foundations of an excellent, disciplined team display.

Ashville will now host South Liverpool in the next round. No date has been confirmed as of yet for this fixture but it is scheduled to be played on Saturday, December 2 at Ray Parker Stadium.
