A TEENAGER from Parkgate has won her third national judo title of the year.

Amber Donaghy, 13, was -70kg English Closed Champion and also topped the podium at the Welsh Open in the +63kg category earlier this year.

On Saturday, December 2 she added the British title to her collection after winning four fights in the -70kg category at the British Championships at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Amber, who attends Neston High School and is a member of Wirral Judo Club, is now targeting a place at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

"It hasn't really sunk it yet," said Mark Donaghy, Amber's dad. "She's had a marvellous year this year.

"Her long time target, if she does not suffer any injuries, is the 2028 Olympics. She has an operation this month so her season has been curtailed by that but then the cycle continues in 2024 and then defending her titles and fighting a few times in Europe."
