A NEWLY-FORMED formed Wirral volleyball team has recorded their tenth straight win.
Hoylake Hurricanes reached the landmark with a 3-1 victory against Knutsford on Thursday at the West Kirby Residential School.
This followed a hard fought 0-3 away win at Wigan on Tuesday night.
Only created in October, the men’s team, who play in the Merseyside Volleyball League Division 2, are now unbeaten since early last December.
Featuring experienced players such as David Webb, an ex National League Division 2 player and Marco Dos Santos, an ex-Namibian professional basketball player, the team has beaten sides from the Merseyside and Wirral area and are now pressing to gain promotion to the first division.
The Hoylake Hurricanes club was created four years ago and initially only had a ladies team. During Covid, the ladies carried on playing, utilising West Kirby beach, as the usual Hoylake venue became unsuitable.
Both Men and Ladies teams play all around the year, indoors in winter then moving to sand and grass tournaments during the summer.
New players are welcome – further information is available at hoylakehurricanesvbc@gmail.com
