HAVING registered their fifth win of the season, Ellesmere Port Town eased their way from the bottom rung of the Go2Day West Cheshire League's Division One table after efforts from Ben Summers (2) and Sam McNeill secured a 3-1 bragging rights victory at South Wirral neighbours, Capenhurst Villa, who had Aiden Hill in reply.

The result demoted Heswall to bottom spot while the Port, with three games remaining are just a point adrift of Vauxhalll Motors Res., who worryingly have already completed their fixtures.

Newly crowned champions, Mossley Hill Ath, completed their programme on a winning note, following a 3-1 result over Chester Nomads, while fourth placed Newton celebrated a 3-0 win at second placed Maghull, with Joe Williams, Paddy Jones and Ryan Beigan on target.

In Division Three, efforts from Grove Ath.'s Jack Pickering, Ryan Maxwell and Joe Humphreys were matched by a fine hat trick from Poulton Vics' Jack Waddicar.

Monday's Youth Division action saw Cammell Laird 1907 assume pole position from Athletico Blues, when Charlie Rooke, Jack Gordon and Theo McDowell applied the finishing touches in a 3-0 win at West Kirby Utd.

A Kieran Taylor double was supplemented by further efforts from Lucas Kennedy and Calvin Smith, as Litherland Remyca accounted for Maghull 4-3.

Tuesday 30/4/24

A smart double from Dom Waite inspired FC Kirkby to a 2-1 victory over Heswall U23's and consolidated his side's second placed positioning in the race for promotion from Division Three. Brad Geer netted for the hosts, and it was a night to savour for Maghull B who had Will Hoey and John Clarkson on the mark and those efforts settled the Youth Plate final 2-0 in their favour against Neston Nomads.

In the Youth Division, Ahthletico Blues, courtesy of a goal apiece from Liam Stevenson, Finnbar McGovern and Louie Donachie eclipsed South Liverpool 3-2 and that result took the Blues back to the top of the table.

Heswall, with goals from Liam Grealis and Joel Robinson, pulled off a 2-0 result over fellow Division One strugglers Ellesmere Port Town, which saw the Port return to bottom spot, but should Heswall and the Port each win one of their remaining fixtures, Vauxhall Motors Res. will be relegated.

Elsewhere in the top flight, efforts from Jack Ward and Josh Daily anchored Marshalls to a 2-0 win over Chester Nomads.

Adil Mohammed's solitary strike earned Mossley Hill Ath. U23's maximum spoils from their clash with Higher Bebington Kelma, while honours were shared after goals from West Kirby's Ben Hawitt and Steve Abbott were negated by replies from Mallaby's Ellis Byrne and Paul Ellison.

Despite a goal from Joe Summers, Aintree Villa Res., came up short against Maghull Res. who posted a 3-1 result thanks to replies from Nathan Moffitt (2) and Will Hoey.

Congratulations to Cammell Laird 1907 Res., who became Division Three champions in style and highlighted by a four goal salvo from Kieran Hughes, romped home 7-0 against West Kirby Res. Further efforts from Adam Larway, Leo Patton and Jayden Jones confirmed the scoreline.

Respective marksmen in Ellesmere Port Town U23's 2-2 stalemate with next door neighbours Groves Ath., were Joe Hayes, James Gahame, Ben Roberts and Jack Sailes.

A solitary Division Three fixture proved profitable for Capenhurst Villa Res. who won 4-2 at Great Sutton, with Harley Morris, Terry Watts, Lewis Chapman and Reece Bridge hitting the target.
John Skipsey and Joe Stephenson scored for the home side.

Friday 3/5/24

Mossley Hill Ath. capped a memorable season when they recorded a league and cup double after beating Maghull in a keenly contested Pyke Cup final. The newly crowned Division One champions hoisted  the trophy aloft for the fourth year in succession when Dom Murphy and Connor Anderson obliged in a 2-1 victory, with John Holmes netting for Maghull.

WEEKEND ACTION 

Liam Van Gelder scored for Aintree Villa but it was visitors Heswall who were able to breathe a sigh of relief , after replies from Liam Grealis and Jack Darlington secured a 2-1 win and that result result safeguarded the Gayton Park club's Division One status for another season.

Basement outfit, Ellesmere Port Town, scored through Ben Sweeney but capitulated  5-1 at home to Rainhill Town who responded through Ant Dunleavy (3), Eddie Hawthorne and an own goal. Nothing less that a win next Saturday against Aintree Villa will prevent the Port from relegation to Division Two.

FC Bootle had two goal Jamie Alty on target but concluded their league campaign on a downer,  after losing 5-2 at Litherland Remyca Res. who enjoyed the win which featured goals from Junior Siyakholwa (2), Karl Berqvist, Anthony Griffith and Elliot Taylor.

With the likelihood of points still to be awarded from a postponed fixture against Marshalls Res., Runcorn Sports  pulled off a 1-0 victory at Division Two Champions, South Liverpool Res. thanks to a lone strike from Stephen Rothwell, which confirmed his side's elevation to the top flight next season.

Elsewhere, Sal Djabi's goal for South Sefton Borough prompted an equaliser from Hooton's leading marksman, Joel Whalley.

In Division Three, Joel Kelly and Aaron Baird found the net as West Kirby Res. beat Ellesmere Port U23's 2-0, while Dan O'Halloran, Yan Avramenko and Louis Stanhope shared the goals, as Heswall U23's eclipsed Rainhill Town Res. 3-2. Jamie Cassan and Jack Van Aston-Hewitt were Town's marksmen.

Goals were the order of the day when efforts from Poulton Vics' Jack Waddicar (2), Danny Wilson and Derek McShane were equalled by replies from Capenhurst Villa Res.' Matty Vickers (2), Luke Jones and Drew Arathoon.

Saturday's Youth Division action saw leaders Cammell Laird 1907 stay two points clear of the chasing pack after goals from Theo McDowell (2), Charlie Rooke, Teddy Galer and Myles Arnott clinched a 5-4 result over Maghull, who hit back through Elliot Barry, Will Carden, Kyle Loftus and Max Horrigan.

Two goals from George Murray failed to prevent second placed Athletico Blues from forfeiting ground after they went down 4-2 at home to Maghull B who sealed the issue thanks to replies from Nathan Moffitt, Billy Brennan, Adam Howes and Will Hoey.

Spare a thought for Neston Nomads' Jack Coll, who scored all four goals but still finished on the losing side when doubles from Josh Abbott and Lewis Greenhalgh allied to an effort from Brandon Hackett swung a 5-4 decision in West Kirby Utd's favour.

There was no stopping South Liverpool who afforded little mercy to Vauxhall Motors and posted an 8-0 score line, highlighted by doubles from Owen Thompson and Charlie Garnell. Further efforts from Louie Smith, Ellis Jago, Jack Colburn and Steve Swindells completed the total.
