I want to highlight a serious problem whilst driving on the Wirral.

As most of you readers probably know, there are 20-mile-an-hour speed limits in place all around the Wirral.

I fully understand the need for these limits around our schools and I am all for keeping our children safe.

I am so infuriated with other drivers who tend to think these speed limits do not apply to them.

Whilst taking my granddaughter to school the other morning I stuck to the 20-mile-an-hour limit only to find that cars approaching me from behind were not slowing down and were almost in my boot, had I been required to do an emergency stop they would have crashed right into me.

On returning from school once again I stayed within the 20-mile limit respecting the law only to see three cars behind me speeding up and then obviously got frustrated with my speed and overtook me on a busy bend in the road.

If any school children had been crossing around the bend this could have caused a serious accident and I guess I would be to blame for having caused this frustration because of driving too slow.

I understand the frustration of these drivers as I know most of them are probably parents who have to drop their children off at school before going on to work.

This problem needs to be addressed before someone is seriously injured.

I have always respected the laws around speed limits but because of my recent experiences recently, my decision will now be do I drive according to the speed limit or do I drive safely to avoid frustration and accidents. I think you know what my answer is.
