I HAVE campaigned against the closure of Girtrell Court respite home and I have spoken out about the closure of Lyndale special school for our severely disabled children.

Both of these facilities have been given notice of closure.

Staff with a wealth of knowledge will be put on the scrap heap.

How do our councillors sleep at night?

How can they look at these children and say to themselves that they are doing the right thing?

People of Wirral, please look at the photographs in your local paper, search your inner feelings, can you honestly say that this is the right decision?

This council has to date spent a great deal of money on consultations for a golf resort that may never happen.

Is this right, to spend taxpayers' money in this way while the most vulnerable have to suffer, to pay for a whim?

It matters not how much it costs, how much the council can save by doing away with them, it is the duty of all of us to protect the most vulnerable among us.

I urge every citizen to contact your councillor and ask if they voted for these cuts – if so, they should be named and shamed.
