THE reporters at Wirral Globe are to be applauded for the detailed reporting of the plight of disabled children at Lyndale school and the poor residents at Girtrell Court.

Massive public opinion has been in favour of keeping both establishments open.

Well-supported campaigns have highlighted the plight, devastation and upheaval of these closures and the effect on staff whose skills may be lost to the borough for ever, only to be swept aside and ignored by our ruling political masters at Brighton Street.

Yet these very same politicians can openly advertise the fact that they intend to spend many thousands of our council tax payers' money on a monthly Wirral Council newspaper and a bonfire night extravaganza (council tax payers money going up in smoke) whilst at the same time intending to cut bin collection frequencies and the size of bins.

Our politicians really have undeniably lost the plot and their ability to listen to the wishes of their electorate or think rationally.

Many residents of Wirral wanted both Lyndale School and Girtrell Court to remain open, but have been totally ignored.

Residents did not want the brown bin service removed to a pay only service, but were ignored with a large increase in waste going to landfill.

When will common sense prevail at Brighton Street and the wishes of council tax payers be taken into account, instead of political arrogance ruling and the wishes of Wirral residents being totally ignored.

Politicians please note: YOU DO NOT KNOW BEST.
