YOUR newspaper has confirmed Wirral Council is determined to press ahead with its 'aspiration' to build a golf resort with Jack Nicklaus and Celtic Manor comprising 250-bedroom hotel with restaurants, bars, shops, beauty parlour, fitness suites, two golf courses, clubhouse, car parking for upwards of 750 cars, service buildings, access roads and more than 150 luxury homes.

The council says that the resort is near Hoylake while it is actually isolated from it by the railway line and a level crossing.

All of the construction and visitor vehicles will have to pass through neighbouring wards along their already busy roads.

How will the narrow country lanes cope with thousands of HGVs carrying landfill to the site followed by thousands of other constructors and contractor vehicles?

Can these roads cope with more than a thousand daily visitors to the resort and homes?

Can the doctors and other service providers in the neighbouring wards cope with the increased demand?

How will the infrastructure cope?

Council says that the project is a £190 million investment in tourism and employment. No it is not!

The money is not being spent on roads, services, houses for the less well-off, shops and offices with thousands of jobs.

The money spent on the resort will not bring prosperity to Wirral.

The tourists will stay in their five-star environment unless they visit other quality golf clubs and courses.

They will not be spending their money on Market Street.

Golf clubs, golf resorts and hotels with golf courses are failing all over the UK and World.

Take a look at the internet to see how many are for sale.

If this resort fails, which by his best endeavours the developer will try hard to avoid, houses will be built on your Green Belt.

If the project is approved, an internationally-renowned highly bio-diverse ecosystem will be destroyed.
