UNDER the proposed boundary changes, Wirral South and Wirral West are to merge.

Well that's not entirely accurate; Wirral West loses Upton to Wallasey and Wirral South loses Eastham to the Cheshire seat of Ellesmere Port and Neston.

It also loses Bebington to Birkenhead.

So let's get this right; the new constituency of 'Bebington and Heswall' will not include Bebington, but it will include West Kirby and Hoylake – neither of which gets a mention.

In the documentation it does concede that not all of Bebington will be in the new Bebington and Heswall constituency.

Not all?

Not any!

Bebington Municipal Borough was abolished in 1974, so Bebington is now just that bit which is moving to Birkenhead.

Perhaps the new constituency could be called Wirral South, though West Kirby is in the north.

How about Wirral West, not too bad but some of the Clatterbridge ward is quite far east. Perhaps Wirral South West; or is all this too simple?
